The Mesker Way: You now have your choice of three
core materials that have passed Underwriters and Factory
Mutual fire tests. This multiple-core availability is
the answer to your problem when sound, heat transmission
and fire ratings affect your door opening. The Pyrodoor
is available in 14, 16, 18 and 20 gauge.
PYRODOOR with Fiberboard Core = Extra
Protection
Meskers Pyrodoor has been tested by Underwriters
Laboratories in accordance with ASTM E152 and has been
rated for heat transmission. The Pyrodoor keeps the side
of the door not exposed to fire relatively cool (below
250 degrees F during the first 30 minutes) giving extra
protection until the fire can be brought under control.
Most importantly, it protects people from the searing
heat radiated from regular fire doors.
The chart below shows the average temperature of
the cool side of doors compared with the temperature of
the furnace during tests of three Mesker doors. The
results of the honeycomb and polystyrene doors are
typical of doors, which have no cores or cores that
destruct very quickly.
